The Legend Cigar Collection

John Starks #3 Signature Series Cigar - Brazilian Maduro Wrapper

Pairing himself with Master Blender Rolando Villamil, Basketball Legend John Starks offers what many consider to be his coronation into the tobacco industry with his #3 Signature Series Cigar—a tour de force line that boasts Robusto, Toro, Gordo, and Grand Gordo sizes. Flawlessly structured, the nuances of this line are products of the neutral, yet complex tones of its handsome Brazilian wrapper, one that is lavishly filled with the grandest fruits of both Dominican Seco and Olor filler. An earthy based cigar that produces endless clouds of pleasant smoke—compliments of a craftsmanship that yields a superb, aficionado standard draw—fans of this series cite hints of coffee, chocolate, as well as pepper, making this cigar a more than satisfying selection for both casual and seasoned smokers.

John Starks #3 Signature Series Cigar - Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper

Similarly constructed in Santiago, Dominican Republic, the variation offered by the #3 Signature Series Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper is hardly a departure from the Brazilian Maduro with regard to quality and overall taste. The Ecuadorian Connecticut line—like its Maduro counterpart—offers Robusto, Toro, and Gordo sizes. For an extended smoking experience, the Ecuadorian line also offers a 50x7 Churchill. Villamil’s knowledge of tobacco blends, once again, has him coupling the understated Dominican Seco long-filler, along with the mild nature of the Olor. The marriage of these fillers produce a taste that is accentuated by the Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper—a leaf grown in Ecuador with Connecticut seeds. Owing its attractive hue to the overcast skies of the South American region from which it originates, the Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper is as attractive to the eye as it is to the palate. At first glance, smokers will marvel at its flawless structure. More importantly, it is the consistent, smooth draws from this treasure that have smokers continually praising its medium-bodied delight. Revealing a dominant spice, nut-based presence—in addition to a variety of other flavors—this line is equally as satisfying a smoking experience as that of the #3 Maduro.

Dominican Legend Corojo

Completing the triumvirate of the Legend Cigar line is the Dominican Corojo. Generally considered a stronger blend—a direct result of its Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper—the Dominican Legend Corojo is nonetheless a veritable medium-bodied cigar. Moreover, despite the powerful reputation of Corojo tobacco, this line is powerful only in taste and robust flavor. Put to the challenge of creating a cigar worthy of “legend” status, while at the same time using a leaf requiring optimum growing conditions and a creator with intricate blending savvy, the minds at Legend Cigars have constructed a masterpiece. Full flavors of pepper and spices that have come to be synonymous with the Corojo leaf are tempered by an Olor Binder, while a bountiful blend of Piloto Cubano Ligero, Piloto Cubano Seco, Dominican Olor Ligero, Criollo, and ’98 Ligero eliminates any element of harshness, and highlights only extreme, complex flavor. Dominican Legend Corojos come in Robusto, Toro, and the newly introduced Lancero sizes. Indeed, this line replicates the popularity of its sister lines—as aficionados have gravitated toward the quality craftsmanship and diversity of Legend Corojos with smoking fervor.

About Us

Legend Cigars began its journey back in the early 2000s after several years of charity work in the Dominican Republic.

In the early 2000s, John and the other owners of Legend Cigars began collecting new and used sports equipment in the United States and bringing it down to the Dominican Republic to distribute to the local children through various community youth groups.

John and his partners were traveling to the Dominican Republic twice a year to distribute the equipment.

Being a long time cigar lover, and finding himself in some of the best tobacco growing areas in the Dominican Republic, John eventually added visits to a nearby tobacco factory during the downtime on the charity missions.

As John and his partners made friendships in the Dominican Republic tobacco industry, they were offered a chance to invest in a cigar factory. Thus began their foray into the tobacco business. CONTINUE READING
